Scholarship

Odisha offers multiple government-sponsored scholarship schemes to support diploma and polytechnic students from various social and economic backgrounds. Most of these programs are centralized and processed transparently through the single-window Odisha State Scholarship Portal via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
The primary financial assistance and scholarship options available for diploma students in Odisha include:
1. State Government Scholarships

  • Post-Matric Scholarship (ST/SC/OBC/SEBC/EBC): Distributed by the ST&SC and MBC Welfare Department, this is the most widely claimed financial aid program. It targets students whose annual family income does not exceed ₹2,50,000. The scheme reimburses up to ₹26,500 annually in course fees along with a monthly maintenance allowance depending on whether the student is a hosteller or day scholar.
    • Sudakshya Scheme for Girl Students: A special initiative run by the Skill Development & Technical Education Department specifically focused on increasing female enrollment in technical trades. It covers entire seat fees, hostel accommodation costs, and offers a ₹1,000 monthly stipend to support female tech aspirants.
    • Nirman Shramik Kalyan Yojana (BOC Worker Scholarship): Funded by the Odisha Building & Other Construction Workers Welfare Board, this scheme supports children of registered construction workers. It covers a large portion of educational fees for recognized technical diploma courses.
    • KALIA Scholarship: Managed by the Department of Agriculture & Farmers’ Empowerment, this merit-cum-means financial aid extends to the children of verified KALIA scheme farmer beneficiaries. It completely funds tuition fees and hostel/mess charges (₹1,000/month for polytechnic hostellers) to pursue technical diploma pathways.
    • Merit-cum-Poverty (MCP) Scholarship: Awarded to standard top-tier students across institutional disciplines. Generally, 10% of students in every branch who secure above 60% marks and exhibit low parental income limits receive this state stipend directly through the institution.
    • Green Passage Scheme: Provides complete fee exemptions (including tuition, examination, and hostel fees up to ₹26,500/year) specifically tailored to support orphan students pursuing higher technical courses.
    • Banishree Scholarship: A dedicated stipend of ₹700 per month provided by the Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Department for physically challenged students enrolled in regular diploma paths.

2. National & AICTE Level Technical Scholarships

    • Pragati Scholarship Scheme: An all-India program specifically designed to reward exceptional girl students starting their first year of technical education. It grants ₹50,000 per annum to cover college fees, books, equipment, and laptop costs for families with an annual income below ₹8 Lakhs.
    • Saksham Scholarship Scheme: A dedicated federal grant of ₹50,000 per year provided to differently-abled students (with more than 40% disability) pursuing professional technical diploma diplomas.
    • Swanath Scholarship Scheme: Designed to help financial support for orphans, children of parents who died due to Covid-19, or wards of Armed Forces personnel killed in action while completing technical education.
